Alliance Defending Freedom: Championing Rights for All
Alliance Defending Freedom is a legal advocacy organization known for its fight for
religious freedom, parental rights and the sanctity of life. Though started by
Christians, Alliance Defending Freedom knows no
boundaries. They have Muslims, Jews and Mormons as their clients.
Outside faith, they have represented conservatives, pro-life and libertarian’s
among others.
FreeSpeech
Since its inception, Alliance Defending Freedom has been at the forefront in
advocating for free speech in learning institutions. Its belief is students
should express themselves freely without coercion or intimidation. One of the
beneficiaries of this is Michelle Gregoire. When the school administration
arrested her for distributing copies of the United States Constitution, it came
to her rescue.
Sanctity to Human Life
Every human life is sacred from conception to natural death and only God can take it
away. This has been a burning issue for those who advocate for euthanasia. When
Jesse Ramirez’ ex-wife wanted to turn off his water and remove feeding pipes,
his sister ran to Alliance Defending Freedom. Five months
later, Jesse woke up from a comma and fully recovered.
Right to Parenting
Every parent has the right to protect their children and direct their upbringing.
When these rights are violated, the organization fights for them. For example,
there is an ongoing case against a Virginia school board after enacting
discriminatory policies.
Outside the United States
Though based in the US, the organization has been spreading its wings internationally.
So far, it has defended various minority groups against persecution. Currently,
35 cases have been successful at the European Court of Human Rights.
Supreme Court
Alliance Defending Freedom is a major player at the Supreme Court. So far, the
organization has played a major role in 74 Supreme Court victories. From
religious to pro-life pregnancy centers, ADF has been their sole defender.
After the 2022 win in “Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization”, life is now
a human right in Mississippi. This has ensured mothers and their unborn
children have better access to the resources they need.
